Windows mobile - Let the storm begin!

Dec 11, 2007

Smartponeware opens new department for Windows Mobile development. We have developed our own library called "Storm" and first applications based on it. Benefits of all Smartphoneware Windows Mobile applications based on "Storm":

  • We use native code only (C++ and Win32 API). We don't use any managed code (e.g.: .NET, VB, MFC). This allows us to make the fastest and smallest in size applications possible which are not hungry for resources and do not depend on specific versions of .NET, etc installed on user device.

  • Users can expect all our applications to be fully scalable and to work on all possible screen sizes and orientations, FLICKING FREE controls, theme aware, support keyboard devices.

  • Our applications support both pen based input and keyboard based input. Also our applications are designed in such a way that you can operate them with one hand only (even PocketPC based devices).

  • We have 1 executable only that supports both PocketPC and Smartphone platforms.

  • Supported platforms:

    Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC
    Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone
Windows Mobile 6 Classic (Pocket PC)
Windows Mobile 6 Proffesional (Pocket PC)
    Windows Mobile 6 Standard (Smartphone)

  • We do not plan to support earlier versions of WinCE as our applications are especially designed for styles guides introduced with Windows Mobiles 5 and we use special features available from WM5 to give our applications platform native look and behavior.

  • From developer point of view our system of classes is very similar to Nokia S60 with Application, View, Dialog and Controls classes. With our system of classes ready we have quite fast developing cycle even using native code purely, so many high quality applications are scheduled or already in development and will come shortly.

Let the storm begin!
